Fetterman says Israel should have taken out Iran's supreme leader
Israel has not ruled out eliminating Khamenei, nor has President Donald Trump, who appeared to threaten the Iranian regime in social media posts on Truth Social on Tuesday.
Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman on Tuesday claimed that he agrees with the sentiment that Israel should have eliminated Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei when it attacked Iran's nuclear facilities last week.
The Pennsylvania senator is one of the most vocal supporters of Israel in Congress amid its conflicts with both Hamas and Iran. Fetterman has also broken ranks with his fellow Democratic lawmakers over Ukraine and the border.
The Democrat told Fox News' “America’s Newsroom,” that he believes Israel should have taken out the leader of the Iranian regime, like the country did with Hezbollah.
“Yeah, I think they should have targeted him. Absolutely gone — taken him out," he said. “I think the way Israel operates, they just take out the leadership just like they did with Hezbollah. And they’ve already done that with the Iranian leadership, just took them out, even laying in their beds.”
Israel has not ruled out eliminating Khamenei, nor has President Donald Trump, who appeared to threaten the Iranian regime in social media posts on Truth Social on Tuesday. He has also called for Iran's "unconditional surrender."
