Festivities for the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army celebration kicked off on Saturday in the nation's capital.

A wreath-laying ceremony with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth took place at Arlington National Cemetery in the morning.

A festival including various events throughout the day followed the wreath-laying ceremony.

The parade, which features country singer Lee Greenwood performing "God Bless the USA" is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.  

A fireworks display will follow the parade.

The event coincides with President Trump's 79th birthday and Flag Day.

Trump is scheduled to participate in the event.

Anti-Trump "No Kings" protests in cities and towns across the country are taking place as the 250th anniversary celebration unfolds.
