President Trump on Friday floated a decrease on China imports to 80% from 145%.

"80% Tariff on China seems right! Up to Scott B," Trump posted on Truth Social, referring to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The president made the suggestion ahead of Bessent's trade talks with his Chinese counterparts in Switzerland on Sunday, Axios reported.

Trump also posted earlier on Friday, "CHINA SHOULD OPEN UP ITS MARKET TO USA — WOULD BE SO GOOD FOR THEM!!! CLOSED MARKETS DON’T WORK ANYMORE!!!"
