White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday confirmed that President Donald Trump will likely speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping sometime this week, as trade negotiations stall.

It is not clear when the discussion will take place, but it comes after Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent teased a conversation between the two global leaders in the near future.

The pair are expected to discuss the trade war between their countries, per Reuters. Bessent led talks in Geneva last month, which resulted in a temporary 90-day truce. But Trump accused China of violating the agreement last week.
